Lexus LF-A Roadster 1
With the LF-A being so well received and since confirmed for production, Lexus decided to release a convertible Roadster version of the concept at the 2008 Detroit Motor Show that you can see here.

Bodywork is almost identical and the car still featured the mid mounted 5.0 litre V10 engine rumoured to have at least 500 horsepower, along with a hybrid drive.

Lexus did not release any further information at the show about the car, so you’ll just have to look at the pictures and make up your own mind, but Lexus have announced that all future production models will be hybrid only, so that at least confirms the hybrid details.

The LF-A concept was first introduced at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show as a mid engined 5 litre V10 super car designed to threaten the traditional sports car establishment. The car was then redesigned with better looking, slightly smoother less angular bodywork and brought back for the 2007 Detroit Show, and shown as a hybrid sports car.

What you can see here are of the second redesigned concept, thought to be very close to the actual production model. Lexus have hinted at the car reaching production several times, it has been see running trial laps round the Nurburgring.

Most recently it has been entered in several endurance races, and one time even raced by the Head of Nissan. A roadster concept convertible was also released – see the next post for more details of the roadster.

Lexus LF-C 1

The LF-C concept car was shown at the 2004 New York Auto Show, and Lexus generally do not produce concepts purely for the sake of it, most cars strongly hint at future models. Lexus LF-C 2
The LF-C is similar in that respect as it was thought at the time that the concept hinted Lexus were seriously considering producing a smaller model to rival other premium manufacturers such as the BMW 1 Series and the Audi A3.

The LF-C concept car featured a retractable hard top, and actually was a taste of the forthcoming Lexus IS convertible model, although the industry speculators that had suggested that the smaller Audi A3 rivalling model were not completely wrong, it was just put on the back burner for a while, and an almost production ready small hatch concept called the LF-Ch was eventually shown much later at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show.

The LF-S concept is a mid size executive saloon that Lexus first displayed all the way back at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show, that was used to express to the world the new brand styling likely to be seen both on its next mid size executive saloon that was due to replace the GS model, and other cars following in the range at a later date.

The LF-S was also the first Lexus concept to feature a hybrid taking the technology from the Prius, and expanding it to a larger size car and engine as it utilised a V8 petrol powerplant alongside its electric motor.
